Vertical Village

Bachelors Project, Architectural Institute in Prague

Maker Village is a structural framework comprised of circulation and utilities connections, providing plots for individuals to build their homes on. The structure is held in a CLT, and the plots are leased from the CLT by individuals or businesses.

The substructures are self built wooden construction using an open source CNC milled plywood building technology by Wikihouse. The proposed volumes are purely for illustration. The building would be built and designed by its residents over time, evolving and adapting to their needs.

I have proposed a mix of commercial, social, agricultural, community and residential functions. My primary questions when designing this project was; How will we build in a post-capitalist society? This is one of many possible answers.
